Acknowledging his visit, a tweet from President Buhari's official Twitter handle (@MBuhari) read, "Pastor Tunde Bakare, my running mate in 2011, visited this afternoon. Tunde is a man whose counsel I greatly respect."

The body of late Foreign Affairs Minister, Chief Ojo Maduekwe departed the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja and arrived at Sam Mbakwe Airport Owerri. The former Minster of Transport passed away on at his residence in Abuja on June 29th, shortly after returning from the US. He was aged 71.

There will be a Court Session by the Nigeria Bar Association(NDA) at Judiciary headquarters, Umuahia later today. Then his body will depart Umuahia for Asaga, Ohafi where a Service of Songs and Christian Wake will hold at Ojo Maduekwe Residence, Asaga, Ohafia. On Saturday, there will be burial service by Presbyterian Church of Nigeria, followed by Internment at his ancestral home. 

Chibok girls: BBOG members plan several marches to the presidency

A statement released today by the advocacy group for the missing Chibok girls, Bring Back Our Girls, states that the group will from Monday August 22nd commence actions that will compel the Federal government and international community to take decisive measures towards the rescue of the kidnapped Chibok school girls. According to the statement, they will be marching to the presidency and also engage in media interactions and others.

We hereby announce our decision to embark on a series of activities to compel decisive action from our government and the global community. Activities will commence on Monday, 22nd August 2016. They will include several marches to the Presidency, media interactions, and engagements with critical stakeholders such as Governments, International Organizations, Statesmen and Influencers. Critical areas to be covered during this period of engagement are our‪#‎ChibokGirls‬, the humanitarian crisis in the North East, corruption in the disbursement of relief materials to IDPs, and the arms deal saga. We call on all citizens, within Nigeria and across the world, to join us on these engagements.

‘Nnamdi Kanu Is Bigger And Greater Than MKO Abiola’ – IPOB

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has warned against any attempt to touch its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who they claim is ‘bigger and greater’ than former Presidential candidate, MKO Abiola.

In a statement issued yesterday by its spokeman, Emma Powerful, the separatist group, denied reports that its incarcerated leader had agreed to renounce the struggle for Biafra secretly.

“Instead of our leader to renounce Biafra, he would renounce Nigeria publicly, mark our words. We are not after securing bail for our leader; we are after his freedom and freedom for the people of Biafra.

“Even a child born today knows that any attempt to tamper with Nnamdi Kanu’s life will bring calamity too horrible to imagine in Nigeria.

“For the sake of clarity, we must state that Abacha did not kill Abiola because they both were killed at the same time. So,anybody who comes from anywhere to kill our leader must also make sure they kill Buhari too in order to have the MKO Abiola scenario replicated,”

“We are not joining issues with Gbomo Jomo and MEND again because IPOB is a mass movement that have branches and intellectuals all over the world.

“The leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu with all due respect is bigger and greater than MKO Abiola .So, the comparison doesn’t arise.

“Nnamdi Kanu is not seeking rulership of Nigeria like Abiola that could reasonably bring him into conflict with entrenched Northern interest whose sole desire is to continue ruling Nigeria.”
